Orange Box Cafe has good cheap eats
It's a cute little cafe/tourist trap off Highway 27, about halfway between Lake Wales and Avon Park. The front of the store is where you can buy Frostproof Orange Juice (AMAZING), oranges and other citrus, honey, and all manner of used items (sort of like a rummage sale). At the back are old formica tables, mismatched chairs, and some of the best southern country cooking you will find outside your mamma's kitchen. Cheap and tasty. We stop there whenever we are en route to/from Orlando.
